Introduction
Hi all,
I think an introduction thread is in order
My name is Brian (but I prefer Bri ), I'm 38 and am in (currently rainy) Wales.
I'm hoping to improve myself a bit with this course. I know my way around computers/networks etc but I always feel that I could learn more.
I help with the running of a game server and the associated website and forum (I won't post a link unless asked as it's not work friendly), I've been doing this for the last 6 years (sort of a hobby).
I tried the T171 course in 2000 but was unable to finish it due to personal circumstances so I know my way around the OU software and it hasn't changed in the intervening 7 years, believe me! A standard (normal!?) forum like this is far more readable
Anyhoo, I hope everyone here does well and good luck to us all

Re: Introduction
hey what game mate?
as for me ...
I am 21 everything I have learnt has pretty much been self taught and therefore I do not know that much.
After leaving 6th form I took 1 year off to earn some money before going to liverpool uni, which I flunked out of on account of a) they kept messing the course around (not telling people where they were meant to be due to building work going on) and b) I got addicted to playing and scripting for X3. I then went back to my old job where I am working now, but realising after a year I needed to get my butt in gear and put my brain to some good use. After seeing the potential I had in scripting from scripting for X3 I decided to go into computing.
I am doing M150 and T175 this year as they are compulsory for a few different computing qualifications and 60 points is enough while I am doing part time work to see how many points I can deal with a year. I am aiming for Computing with Business maybe going on to a masters.
I still am addicted to games so have deleted them all off my pc before I started this course (hopefully enough to stop me going on them), will also be putting parental lock on my self and giving gf the digital key so I dont go on any game sites
Once I have took all "easy ways out", out of the question I normally get down to work quite well, especially as this course actually interests me.
I hope to find a job that I can do from my pc even if it means making my own business, because my gf wants to go back to Poland in the future so I will work in Poland, but I do not speak fluent Polish.
I also like to use the adobe suite to create pictures, I have only just started using it but it is really wonderful stuff, (when I have the cash I will buy it, for now though I need to learn on it so have kinda borrowed it)
Anyway I like the atmosphere from you guys and hope to meet a few of you especially those in stoke think there is 3 lol (its a small world)
Regards

Re: Introduction
Started off running Medal Of Honor (MOHAA as it was called) in 2002, renting a small server that was run through a web interface. Then progressed to Spearhead (a MOHAA add-on). We switched to the Call of Duty game in 2003 and also switched servers so we had total control (via remote desktop). Now we run just Call of Duty 4. In between we've run numerous games Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, BF2 and BF2:Special Forces (see a pattern emerging here lol)

Re: Introduction
Hi again,
I'm Trevor, 45 years young (in October) and I live in Cardiff. I used to be a forum junkie, enjoy playing my Xbox 360 and a little blogging.
As for what I'm doing at the moment, take a peek here.
Expect me to pick peoples brains a fair bit.

Re: Introduction
My name is Kerensa, but some call me Kermit, which is fine by me, I am 34 year old Female and I live in Devon, I am not working due to illness so am looking to further my education and take on some courses in the hope that in a few years time I might be better and can then do something with what I have learnt, I am doing the M150, I hope to do the T183 next and then follow on with other computing courses. And then I will see where that all leads me.
Re: Introduction
Hello! I'm James. I'm also from Devon. I'm doing M150 and will be going to the Exeter tutorials.
I'm a lawyer by trade and have already got an MA(Hons) in Politics and some lawyery diploma thingies. So, I thought it was time to learn something useful! I live in between Torbay and Exeter, am married and we're expecting a baby in... oh... two weeks! Still, I'm sure I'll be able to fit a bit of studying into all those moments when I used to be sleeping!
That's all for now - otherwise I might give away too much!
Nice to see you all - thanks for setting up a readable forum!
